I’ll share three common Google Play gift card scams to help you be more vigilant and avoid falling into traps.

Here are three common Google Play gift card scams:

Impersonating government agencies: Scammers may impersonate government officials and use fines or legal threats to intimidate you. They may even ask you to pay with a Google Play gift card. But remember, real government agencies will never ask you to pay for anything with a gift card. If you receive such a call, be sure to hang up and confirm its authenticity through formal channels.

Email scams: If you receive an email from a “friend” claiming that they need a Google Play gift card, be vigilant. Scammers often hijack your friend’s email account and pretend to be them to commit fraud. When you encounter such a request, please confirm it again through other reliable methods (such as a phone call).

Fake deals: Some websites may promise to sell products at unbelievable prices, such as exchanging Google Play gift cards for super cheap iPhones or Macbooks. Be careful - if the deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is. When making a deal, always choose reputable platforms and merchants.
